Pop Perfection

For artisan popcorn maker Jean Arnold, perfection can be found in the details. Named after the optimal Fahrenheit temperature for popping corn, her company 479 Popcorn, launched in 2008, revives the tradition of making small batches of popcorn by hand in heavy copper kettles.Four samplers, ($33-$38) which contain 5 boxes of assorted flavors each, are cleverly grouped with names like The Purist or The Sweet Tooth and make for original (and well received) gifts.

Available in specialty stores across the U.S., 479 Popcorn is sold at Dean & Deluca, Zabars & Whole Foods as well as online from the company’s web site.
